Mr. Dejaneiro “DJ” Davis, a West Monroe , Louisiana native, has been at Riser Middle for twelve years. He arrived in January 2011 as a sub for the subs. He has held the positions of classroom teacher, LEAP remediation teacher, bus driver, P.E. teacher, head football coach, athletic director, head girls’ basketball coach, administrative assistant, and assistant principal. In fact, he continues to drive the bus for the school. He has been an integral part of restorative discipline during his tenure at Riser.
He is accessible to teachers, students, and parents, working to do the best for everyone involved. Mr. Davis has spent the last 30 years using his influence and ability to build strong relationships to develop his community. He currently volunteers his time in several board of director capacities. These capacities include the University of Louisiana at Monroe Alumni Association and also the Letterman’s Club. His recent selection to Centric Federal Credit Union’s Member Engagement Committee has allowed Davis to support his community even further. “Coach” as many of his students call him has authored two books, a motivational album, and is a certified TedX Speaker. An avid reader he is also the father of two children ages 27 and 21. He is an active member of the Mu Tau Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., Spring 2012. It is a great honor to announce that he is the newest Principal at Riser Middle!
